A shipping platform lives and dies by its numbers. If you can't see these five metrics in real time, you're flying blind.
1. On-time delivery rate
The single number your customers feel. Track the percentage of shipments delivered within the promised window. Drop below 90% and you'll start losing repeat business.
2. Average delivery time
Not just speed — consistency. Watch the trend. If it creeps up, something in your routing or capacity is breaking before customers complain.
3. Cost per delivery
Revenue minus driver payouts, fuel, and overhead, per shipment. This is the number that tells you whether a zone is actually profitable or just busy.
4. Proof-of-delivery capture rate
Every completed shipment should have a signature, photo, or scan. A low capture rate means disputes you can't defend — and refunds you can't avoid.
5. Driver utilization
What percentage of a driver's shift is spent on active deliveries vs. waiting. Low utilization means you're overstaffed; consistently maxed-out utilization means you're turning away work.
Put them on one screen
The whole point of a logistics platform is that these numbers are visible without a spreadsheet. If your dashboard can't answer all five in one glance, it's time for a better one.
